The Ounce of Prevention Fund and PBS KIDS have partnered to design an innovative program to foster parents’ engagement in young children’s social-emotional development to aid school readiness and lifelong achievement. This joyful project design capitalizes on proven high-touch, relationship-based family engagement practices and creates convenient accessibility to engaging, high-quality digital content even when parents’ time and resources are limited.

This partnership will provide support for both staff and parents in parterning together to more effectively prepare children for success in school.

How It Works

The Launching Learners program helps families prepare children for school success. Parents and their child’s preschool staff work together to foster children’s social-emotional learning.

Using a combination of high-tech engaging digital tools and activities and high-tough relationship-based in-person connections and supports, the program is designed to help parents support their child’s learning anytime, anywhere.

  1. 1Parents sign up for the Launching Learners program at their local school.
  2. 2Parents attend staff-facilitated monthly meetings and receive take-home activities to do with their child.
  3. 3Parents get texts or emails with tips and advice 2x a week to help them support their child’s learning anytime, anywhere.
  4. 4Parents and staff get access to an online archive of resources including games, activities, articles and other tools.
